I live in Chicago & eat Chicago dogs all the time. Don't worry nigh not finding the sport peppers if you are in a different area, I think nearly people choice them off anyways crusade they are spicy. As well, about hot dog stands here use Vienna hot dogs that should be in stores. They accept a nice skin with a snap. They make for the best hot dogs.

Born and raised in the shadows of Wrigley Field many decades ago, I can tell this is the right and appropriate Chicago-mode hot dog recipe. A couple of notes: when you are in the urban center and ordering a "domestic dog", when they enquire "what would you like on that?", it is appropriate to say "hey, elevate that dog through the garden, would yous?". As far as cucumber versus dill spear, this depends on the neighborhood. So if you ever ordered at the same dog stand, you might not realize the stand about 20 miles away uses celery salt and a dill pickle. My suggestion: Endeavour them wherever you get. Oh, and my thank you to Rachel Ray - the best thing for low-carb diets...the Chicago Manner Hot Domestic dog salad. I had these for a calendar week when my husband was on a business organization trip, and I really lost more than 5 pounds. Thanks Vienna Beef (hey, I think their outlet store is still on Damen Ave. Seconds are excellent!)

This was the best hot dog ive always had in my entire life. I grilled the dogs, baked the buns and used pepponcini peppers instead of the sports peppers. omg!!!!yummy!!!! i will always utilize this recipe when preparing hotdogs! thanks for the recipe!

This "recipe" doesn't cut new footing, but if you lot're non in Chicago this is nice to accept every bit a guideline for the required ingredients to assemble a Chicago Hot Dog properly at home.
03/eighteen/2007
These fabricated our Super Basin party complete! My hubby is a Bears fan, and then I wanted to have Chicago dogs for him and his friends, and they were a huge striking!! No one has ever heard of "sport peppers" in my area, only later on some research, I found that Poblano peppers are pretty close, and then that's what nosotros used. Poppy seed hot dog buns are non available in my area, so I steamed regular buns and while they were still moist, rolled them in loose poppy seeds. These dogs were sooo good that we've now implemented them into our NASCAR get-togethers! Thanks so much!

I hate hotdogs. Except for my beloved Gold Coast Dogs in Chicago. I lived there for years and had them for lunch, oftentimes. And so, we moved to Michigan. No more Gold Declension Dogs. Then I searched and found this recipe. 100% perfect!! Just exist sure to use an all beef Kosher blazon dog, rather than a small mix hotdog. There are times that a turkey-domestic dog won't cut it and this is one of them.

Chicago Dogs are a babyhood favorite of mine since my family owned a eating house that specialized in Vienna Beef Hot Dogs. They aren't a Chicago Dog without the celery salt and pepperocini peppers have the perfect season to top the dogs. Of course, they actually aren't a hot canis familiaris, just a GOURMET hot dog...Enjoy!
07/08/2008
Not beingness a pickle or pepper fanatic, I like mine with cucumber wedges instead of the pickles and peppers. For the tape, I got a dog this way from a pushcart in Chicago.

My hubby and I now own a Chicago themed eating house in Omaha - Papa Chris' Chicago Originals - and we know how to make a dog! He's a 26 year native of the metropolis. You really need a Vienna Beef frank to brand information technology gustatory modality authentic but in a pinch use the highest quality National make yous can observe at the supermarket. I recommend using Roma tomatoes -less juice - and slicing your tomato into at least 8 wedges for easier eating. This is a big bite kind of food. Also, mince your onions, nicer to eat than big chunks. If you lot don't own a steamer basket, you can nuke your bun in a plastic bag for 15-20 seconds and information technology will be soft and steamy. Sport peppers are Non pepperoncini as someone reviewed but if you can't find the real matter, any small pickled pepper volition do. If your new to Chicago dogs, this is the all-time way you will ever eat a hot dog! Call back, ketchup is merely for fries, Non Chicago dogs! Happy eating!

This review is to oboemargot. I lived in Chicago for twenty years, I ate at over 100 hot dog stands, because I love hot dogs. And YES ther are tomatoes on a Chicago hotdog.
01/20/2009
A definate classic. You NEED the sport peppers, and the buns haee to be steamed. I tend to overdo information technology with the celery common salt.
01/31/2011
I visited my sister in Chicago last year and was soo excited to taste the famous Chicago hot dog..And I gotta say I wasn't very impressed...Kinda a let down for me...I couldn't really sense of taste the hot dog with all the toppings on information technology.
12/09/2010
You nailed it. This is a Chicago dog, the but city in the globe where a hotdog is an acceptable meal for an adult. My simply business organization is that the drink pairing is Reisling or Lemonade (don't know if these are user generated or what)... The ONLY matter to drink with a Chicago dog is a ice cold DOMESTIC beer, or if looking for that sporting consequence feel a luke warm beer in a plastic cup that y'all paid $8 for and half spilled out by the time the people next to you lot passed it to you.
03/16/2010
Holy mother of hotdog! These were fantabulous. A flake different, and a lot more kick than a standard canis familiaris, which is quite alright by me. I did utilise pepperoncini peppers, as I haven't seen 'sports' peppers before. I made Mike's Signature Pretzel Staff of life into hotdog buns for these, and was not disappointed. Great pairing. Thanks. :)

I love a Chicago manner dog, but to me it's non a Chicago canis familiaris without a Vienna wiener. People that are saying this isn't expert are probably using a mushy, bland Ball Park or Oscar Meyer beef frank, which doesn't make the form. Those are fine if you are going to bury them in chili, cheese and onions, but the star of a Chicago dog ~is~ the dog! and all the other ingredients residual out the flavor spectrum by giving you sweet, hot, salty and sour. At present that is street gourmet perfection!!
01/xvi/2011
I made 1 substitution. I used a 100% Bison hot dog. This is Bang-up!
07/30/2011
Made this last night with only a slight modify, we grilled the beef dog on charcoal grill instead of humid them. I couldn't find poppy seed hot domestic dog buns and then instead I brushed olive oil slightly on top of the bun and added my own poppy seeds, and so warmed them on the grill. Added all the toppings but as stated, used jalapenos instead of sports peppers, since that is what I had in stock and prefer. After everything was on my dog I covered plate with a plastic cover and nuked for but a min and half in microwave and this made the bun like it was steamed. Very good dog and once in awhile yous just gotta have a skillful hot canis familiaris.
04/xvi/2011
Try the sport peppers even if y'all don't ordinarily like spicy. I steam my buns by putting a splatter screen over the sauce pan while cooking the dogs. And I always add celery common salt.
x/23/2010
Omg! Thank Yous! Perfect recipe! My male parent's family is from Chicago and I remember going as a kid and having anybody freak when I asked for but ketchup on a hot dog in a hot domestic dog joint at that place (I was just 10) When I was in college everyday my dad would bring me to become Chicago fashion hot dogs at a place in Houston and I fell in love! What was I thinking when I was a kid? Well at present I make these in South America! The people here don't know what hitting them!
ten/29/2010
Was fine without the sport peppers. Make sure to splurge on the poppy seed buns and you HAVE to take the celery salt, and an all beef hot dog such as vienna, klements, or hebrew national.
01/16/2011
I'm from Chicago. I served these (using Hebrew National franks as Vienna are not available in VA) while watching the Bears game on 1/xvi/xi. Bears won to advance to NFC championship game. Was it the CS hot dogs that brought some luck to the outcome? Not sure but it sure didn't hurt. This recipe is the real deal! Followed the recipe to the T (T formation, Bears, get information technology?) but used pepperoncini'due south. We all raved about how awesome/accurate these dogs are. Become Bears, Become Cubs!!!
09/20/2011
As a lifelong resident of the Chicago area, I can honestly say that THIS is the ONLY version of a true Chicago Style Hot Dog. There are NO variations. Grilling the dogs, baking the buns, pepperoncini instead of sport peppers are all variations; nil tin can be substituted and still exist considered Chicago Style. VIENNA Dogs are boiled (Or steamed), buns e'er steamed, poppyseed buns are the only way. When I make these at habitation, I put the onions on the bun before the hot domestic dog, that keeps them from falling off when I swallow them. Dandy recipe, effort them for dinner!!
08/28/2010
My gramps would exist proud, he endemic Moshe' Pippics hot dog stand on western and diversey and across from Humbolt Park in the sixty'south in chicago!
09/24/2010
The Chicago dog is tough to beat as far as tasty and delicious "comfort nutrient" is concerned. We have our own version of this classic that is little more decadent. The hot dogs get boiled in beer and the buns are steamed in the beer steam. The only other differences are that we add chopped tomatoes and sprinkle with chopped grated cheddar cheese. Then we might load on the optional chopped jalapeno peppers. The wife being a non-purist also adds mayo and ketchup in add-on to everything else, then this would not quality every bit a pure Chicago dog, merely information technology is a tasty variation.
08/27/2010
Don't forget the cucumber!!!
x/25/2010
I'm non from Chicago, and I've honestly never been in that location, but I've eaten a lot of Chicago dogs. I thank my grandpa for this since he savage in love with them after spending a couple months in the Windy City. Information technology's the merely way I'll eat a hot canis familiaris anymore! Couldn't find the sports peppers. :( I had to go without, which would make my grandpa's head spin if he institute that out! Veeeeeerrrrry succulent, I will be using this recipe all the time!
01/03/2011
I had never had this style of hot domestic dog before I tried this recipe....so I was skeptical. But now, I'1000 a fan! We loved them! Next time we'll buy hotter sport peppers. We chose mild. Wished information technology was a little warmer. Followed recipe to a tee. Delicious!
10/12/2010
Made exactly to specifications, these are and then corking! Now that I have family in Chicago, I get gifted with sport peppers and that fluorescent light-green relish. If I only had a local source for the poppy seed buns.
04/01/2011
These are amazing! I used Nathan's hot dogs, which were perfect for these! Also, depending on the expanse y'all live in, poppy seed buns can be difficult to find. I fabricated my own: I just brushed some melted butter on plain hot domestic dog buns, sprinkled poppy seeds on them, and toasted them in the oven for about five minutes. They turned out perfect! I also used balmy sliced pepperoncinis, and they were wonderful on information technology. These dogs are the all-time when every ingredient is there, so don't exist afraid to endeavour it!
04/08/2011
No law-breaking, Chicago....but a footlong chili cheese dog can't exist trounce!
05/28/2011
Since my wife and I are vegan, I made a vegan version of this. I didn't try to exist exact, but as shut as possible while staying within my ethical and (wimpy) hotness tolerance bounds. The only veggie hot dog I like a lot is Hill Linda, but theiy're not in my shut-by grocerices, so I used Field Roast Italian sausage (very good), which I grilled. I used an Anaheim pepper, that's about equally hot equally I tin take. Bated from that, I followed the recipe exactly. I thought it was bang-up; my wife loved information technology, too. With some cole slaw, corn, and baked beans on the side, this was a wonderful pre-Memorial twenty-four hour period barbecue banquet.
05/28/2011
I spent my entire life in Chicago and this recipe is missing ane key ingredient - Cucumber slices. Chicago dogs have cucumber slices... Always. In fact, sport peppers are optional. But a head's up for those of you who want to be accurate!!!
02/22/2011
I've always wanted to try a Chicago-style hot canis familiaris, just instead of humid the hot domestic dog, my hubby wanted to grill them. Besides, you can't find poppyseed buns at our hometown grocery store. But we followed the rest of the recipe, and they were terrific.
11/26/2010
Love Chicago dogs!!!! I miss Chicago!
04/09/2011
Information technology's really sour. I like spicy or sweet.
x/27/2010
I lived in chicago equally a kid and one bite took me back! These are delicious!! Thank y'all for posting
06/08/2011
I didn't care for Hot dogs till I ate 1 like this. Now when the hubby says he wants Hot dogs for supper, I'm all in. All the fashion is how we eat them in the due south but this is and so much better! Thanks so much.
04/03/2011
This was good. I couldn't find Poppyseed buns ANYWHERE though. I had never idea of putting peppers on a hot dog. That was our favorite part.
03/19/2011
These were a hit in our house! I've never had a real Chicago dog before and so I tin't compare them to anything else. I only had to substitute the sport peppers with tiny tobasco peppers from a jar. Really really skillful. Thank y'all for sharing
03/06/2011
"Sport" Peppers are some other proper noun for pepperoncini peppers! You lot can substitute balmy pickled wax peppers or jalepenos, depending on the amount of heat you similar!
01/29/2012
Made me dear hot dogs! These have go my favorite late-dark guilty pleasure. I tin't find sport peppers or poppyseed buns locally and I don't want to pay to have them shipped. I've taken the advice of other reviewers and am rolling my steamed buns in poppy seeds. Since they don't stick all that well, I also sprinkle some inside the bun. For the peppers, I'm cutting up pickled hot peppers. If you lot are a Southerner like me, what I'm using are the same Tabasco blazon peppers nosotros bottle in vinegar to make pepper sauce for greens. I can't compare, but I sure like my results. I never would take thought to put celery salt on a hot dog, simply I dearest this added season. To make it easier to eat, I'm chopping everything up more than the recipe calls for and then sprinkling it all with the celery salt. Finally, I'm taking an easy and quick shortcut by steaming both the hot domestic dog and the bun, separately, of course, in the microwave. It's faster and easier than boiling and steaming on the stove. To do this, I but wrap them in wet newspaper towels and put them in the microwave.
01/09/2011
The fashion a canis familiaris should be served! @Large Ugly Mich...there are no push carts in Chicago. Not Chicago proper anyways. Just nothing wrong with how you ordered it. (where ever you lot got information technology) At to the lowest degree y'all didn't add ketchup.
02/12/2011
I did the all-time I could since we don't accept the correct ingredients here in French republic. Still, it was dreamy. And so I'm now aiming to lodge everything from the United states for the adjacent ones I make.
11/23/2010
I was looking for a recipe to add a bit of Boot to the ordinary hot dog...because that is what I had on hand. Male child, did I! This was information technology. I'm your everyday mustard, ketchup, relish on a dog kinda daughter, and then this was a stretch. This was pretty darn (wanting to use another give-and-take) Skillful! My husband referenced the repast many times that evening saying how surprisingly proficient information technology was! The best thing? The toll!
11/06/2010
I am not a big hotdog fan. But, when I do eat them I really similar them this way. I don't know what a sport pepper is and I don't add the bask. Just, the mustard, dill pickle spear, and tomato are a must! It is a really swell combination for a hotdog. And, if using a good soft bun, I just stick mine in the microwave for ten seconds for ease. It has ever worked for me.
07/19/2008
Being built-in, raised and still living in chicago, i've got this recipe engrained in my mind. this is the only way that a hot dog should be eaten. i shudder seening people put ketcup on hot dogs! never never never! ever! oh and to the person who wondered if the vienna beef outlet was even so on daman ave..it is!
05/nineteen/2010
I leave this rating non considering it was bad, only because it is well.... i don't fifty-fifty know. I would make them again. I tin can see maybe once a year or so. Dogs come in so many varieties subject field to civilization and geography. Just look at this and Martinsville, VA. as contrasts. I approximate I can merely say as far as "Dawgs" go.. I am just glad to exist from the S.
05/28/2011
Chicago hot dogs are the best, BUT this motion-picture show is wrong. Yellow peppers do non substitute for a sport pepper in Chicago. The flavor and texture is completely different. And to respond to the reviewer who said almost people take them off, not true! A Chicago hot canis familiaris is succulent with them and besides very good without them, only they are not just a garnish like parsley next to a steak. They add together a distinct flavor that is worth experiencing. I personally bite the stop off the pepper and sprinkle the juice over my hot dog!
02/05/2007
This makes a bang-up hot canis familiaris!
01/31/2007
OF Course, there are tomatoes on Chicago Dogs. Ketchup, no. Tomatoes, yes. Until recent retirement to Tucson, the husband and I are life-long Chicagoans, and my blood brother has owned a pizza place and a hot canis familiaris stand up in Chicago. Definitely, TOMATOES!!!!!
06/06/2011
I am FROM Chicago and this is dead on!! Just thing I do dissimilar is skip the celery common salt, but that'southward but personal gustatory modality. Merely mode I'll swallow a hot dog!!
05/28/2011
I'm from Chicago and this is the only mode to eat a dog. Now living in key Ohio, I can't find poppy seed buns.
08/26/2010
My husband started traveling to Ch. nigh a yr agone would come up abode raving nigh these dogs. Thanks for the recipe. Couldn't find sports peppers here, but he brought some home recently. I'one thousand a vegetarian but when i brand for him i have all but dog and i enjoy information technology. Oh i also haven't been able to find poppy seed buns.
04/17/2011
I LOVE this recipe! I fabricated it for my dad and my uncle and information technology was a huge hit! I didn't use sport peppers though, I used pepperoncinis, only other than that, very successful!
07/18/2011
Easy and actually expert! My bf didn't recollect it would be good with pickles and all the other stuff and ended of loving information technology way more than whatever other fashion. Cheers! Succulent!
08/27/2010
That is the just way to make a Chicago hot dog. I was born at that place and can remember eating them from corner vendors. One thing people forget is we always had a dog and bunch tamales. Vienna dogs the best. Don't change a thing. JUDY
06/01/2010
delish! perfect peculiarly if yous take all the stuff on mitt. I wasn't sure what sports peppers were and so I used sliced assistant peppers. I melted some butter and sprinkled some poppy seed in and so rubbed my hot dog bun in it and toasted it in the oven for a couple min. Worked merely fine for me. Fun fashion to eat a hot dog!!
07/30/2011
Yuuummmyy! So good! The Only thing different I did was the bun. No poppy seeds :( But other than that stayed true. These are such an astonishing combo of flavors! My all time favorite hot dog! Glad I could finally brand i myself...thanks!
07/14/2012
The "existent deal" Chicago dog uses a Vienna Beefiness frank, STEAMED non boiled, a steamed poppy seed bun, neon dark-green relish, and whole sport peppers. I gave iv stars because of the advice to boil the franks. The Vienna Beefiness franks have a natural casing that has just the right amount of "snap" to it when you bite in! The buns need to be steamed and so that they are just almost mushy and soft. Plenty of mustard on TOP of the frank, not on the bun, a spear of pickle, and plenty of onions and relish make this domestic dog incredible. Finally, slices of tomatoes are a requirement. Don't mess around with perfection - the expert people of Chicago figured out the perfect dog!
05/28/2011
These are amazing! I haven't been a huge hot dog fan, but we've made these similar iii times in the last few weeks. Nosotros add together pepperoni on ours also, might not be officially "chicago-fashion" but nosotros think information technology'southward yummy.
09/09/2011
That pic does NOT have Sport Peppers, they look like either jalapenos or bananna peppers....LOL I am a Chicagoan and yous Take to take SPORT PEPPERS to relish this dog properly! YUM! =)
05/28/2011
This is the ONLY way to take a hot dog! yum yum yum!
07/17/2011
Absolutely must have a poppy seed bun. They are not bachelor anywhere but in Chicago just the one suggestion of steaming a regular hot dog bun and and so rolling it in poppy seeds was a GREAT thought and really works. Absolutely NO ketchup, and be certain and add the tomatoes and celery salt. The All-time hot dogs always!
01/21/2011
I was gifted some real Chicago style savour for Christmas and love making these. The fresh tomato is so tasty, and the sweet/salty combo of dill pickle and sweet relish is keen. I subbed banana peppers for the sport peppers. If yous ignore the sodium, it's a pretty healthy fashion to eat hot dogs! They are succulent.
09/18/2009
One of the reasons why I regret moving to Texas...NOBODY down here sells vienna dogs...let alone poppyseed buns. :(
01/20/2009
In that location is NO other mode to eat a hot dog. We always utilise Vienna beef dogs. And no ketchup, never always never! In my opinion, if yous visit Chicago you lot must eat an Italian beef from Taylor Street, deep dish pizza from Giordanos, Garrett popcorn and a Chicago Style Hot Dog. With this recipe, yous can bring a bit of Chicago to you if visiting is not possible. Practise be certain to use the poppy seed bun, it won't be the same without it.
09/ten/2011
Ane of Tims favorites. Next fourth dimension I desire to try it with Curry
08/01/2010
I had a layover in Chicago on my way to Tacoma and was very hungry. I was going to chose McDonald's but saw a hot canis familiaris stand instead. I am from the Southward so I have never seen i except on Idiot box. So I decided to try it and asked for ketchup and mustard.....needless to say, I didn't get that, but I did become a "where are you from???" The gentleman made me a "Chicago Style" hot-canis familiaris and I take not had ketchup on a hot dog in the last three years. It'south the best!! No one comes close! I make mine exactly similar this recipe....minus the peppers, lol!
09/04/2009
Being built-in and raised in Chi-Town I can say that finally someone has gotten the chicago style dog recipe correct. I suggest having an ice cold erstwhile style and watching the cubs or bears to round out and brand it a complete chicago meal.
03/23/2010
OMG! I have lived in Chicago for threescore years, and This Is Information technology! We have traveled effectually the country and have institute "Chicago Style Hot Dogs" in many places with Ketchup, Mustard and Bask. What are they thinking? It'due south not really that hard
08/29/2011
Amazing!! Simply how remember it from when I was a kid :D I was so excited to detect sport peppers at my local grocery store! It'southward just not a Chicago domestic dog without em!
08/26/2010
If you can go Vienna beef hotdogs, all the better. I'1000 from Chicago, and this is the only way to eat a hot dog!
01/19/2009
I love hot dogs like this. I first had them on the Navy Pier while visiting Chicago. I can't go some of the ingrediants near me. Like sport peppers and poppy seed hot domestic dog buns. I've tried other things, merely they never quite match the bully flavor of this recipe.
03/27/2010
AWESOME! I tin can't believe how yummy this was...hubby gave it two thumbs up and I agree! The flavors simply went together perfectly. My but regret is that I didn't try this recipe sooner. I will most definately be making these again! Thanks for sharing. :)
02/01/2007
If you can get Vienna hot dogs, that's what really makes information technology! "And don't even call back of katsup" is the name of the game... my husband cringes when my kids eat hot dogs!
04/12/2008
Adept dogs! Can't detect poppy seed buns here in Central CA. Use French bagget type breads cut to size. They're improve suited to standing upward to all the "stuff". Not much on sweet relish. Peppers in question... I dunno. We use pepperonccini peppers. Also some kind of good cheese and maybe... chili!!!
05/12/2009
Truly delicious! I couldn't find poppy-seed buns or "sport" peppers so had to use regular buns and pepperoncini, only the dogs were yet awesome! All of the toppings and the celery salt just brand it groovy!
06/08/2011
I couldn't find any poppyseed buns then I just sprinkled poppyseeds within the buns. I also used celery seed in place of the celery table salt because that's what I had on hand. A nice change from the regular hot dog!
01/20/2009
The just bad thing about this recipe is that the canis familiaris needs to be Vienna Beefiness. True Chicago has a topping way but a Chicago dog is the make Vienna Beef- not just whatever beef canis familiaris. Also, never grill a Chicago domestic dog salve that for the e coast. :)
03/05/2007
A true Chicago hot domestic dog, granted you employ Vienna all beef franks. I have all ingredients readily available for my out of town guests to indulge. :)
08/26/2010
NEVER put ketchup on the dogs and if you are lucky plenty to become Vienna Hot Dogs they are the all-time.
07/xxx/2010
I'k born and raised in Chicago and in my 75 years I've eaten more Chicago Way hot dogs than I can remember. Your recipe is right on. If you want information technology to be perfect, use Vienna Beef hot dogs. One bite and you'll remember yous're in Wrigleyville! (that'due south what they serve). Someone wrote in and said to use Kosher hot dogs. Ugh! They are plain not from Chicago.
05/28/2011
Chicago dogs are OFF THE HOOK! I agree with some previous comments. The picture shows the incorrect pepper and you lot must have the unnatural nuclear green savour. :) That being sorry I'm sure at that place are thousands of succulent variations. Relish!
07/13/2014
We used Hebrew National Beef hot dogs, the flavor was delicious! I looked all over Fargo, ND for the Vienna Beef, but struck out. Also, I had to put in a special order for the poppy seed buns at a "real" baker. Worth the i day delay! Anybody enjoyed them! Thanks for all of the advice with substitutions in the reviews.
02/fourteen/2007
Delicious! My recollection from 25 years of living in the Midwest is that Chicago dogs accept a cucumber spear...merely and so once more, my memory never was that great! This is nifty football fare. Ready a buffet and everyone can fix their own! Truth exist told, you lot may need to ready out the ketchup for the kiddies, simply don't let anyone see Y'all putting that red goo on YOUR Chicago canis familiaris!!!
01/31/2007
if yous add together the cucumber slices it raises information technology to a five star. I love Chicago dogs!!
08/26/2010
Vienna hot dogs are a must. They are the but ane'southward that requite you the true gustation. Steamed buns and the celery salt brand them just like home.
02/17/2013
Great hot dogs! Distressing simply I still have to have ketchup along with some jalapeno peppers on a dog.
01/30/2007
Very delicious and easy meal that the whole family unit enjoys. A new family favorite and will definately make again. Cheers.
02/07/2009
My fave way to eat a hot dog...before information technology was just Ketchup/Mustard Onions...or maybe Onions and Sauerkraut. Sheesh, what was I thinking?! The Chicago canis familiaris is SO flavorful...and putting them together is really an Art more than a Scientific discipline. In my expanse, I've had bug locating Sport Peppers and Poppy Seed Buns...so to substitute, I employ Sliced Pepperoncini'south and Potato Bread Buns. Don't know where to get Vienna Beef Dogs, merely Boar'southward Head pinch hits simply fine.
03/05/2013
We love making these! I e'er serve the ingredients chopped upward in bowls so each person tin can 'apparel' their own dog to their liking. (of course, best is made as-written, but not everyone in the family likes all the ingredients) I tin can't discover sport peppers locally and so I chop up some expert pepperoncini peppers and they work well.
03/22/2010
AMEN to all the reviews and I want to ditto by maxim that the canis familiaris is and then much ameliorate (and most original) when it snaps! You ain't never tasted a dog til you tasted a Chicago dog!
09/03/2009
Pretty good. I'thou from Chi boondocks, this was close.
11/24/2008
Just like you get at Vienna Beef! For the tape you can get an authentic Chicago-Style in Milwaukee @ Sammy's. But making them at home is nifty, too.
09/05/2009
I have had many Chicago dogs and this recipe is the closest to the real thing. Succulent!!
12/xxx/2008
Best way to consume a dog. Celery table salt, fresh tomatos and a poppy seed bun are the key,,,, and never e'er utilize ketchup never : )
